FREDERICTONS FIRST TRAIL RUNNING CLUB IS UP AND...well...RUNNING!!!
A big THANKYOU to all of those who came out to the first Fredericton Radical Edge Trail Run! We are quite lucky to have O'Dell park right in our backyard. With a decent amount of single track, weaving its way thorugh the park, there is a little somethinhg for everyone out there. We will certainly be frequenters of this great location...but there is more out there for us to tackle....much more.
This is how it will work, for now:
- THIS IS A FREE CLUB! To be a member, simply show up for a run. Contests, events, incentives and other fun stuff will pop up from time to time. Those who might want to become more involved as the club progeresses are encouraged to speak with Brian or Kaylee at the Queen St. shop about what kind of a commitment it would take to become a PACE LEADER. (Pace leaders are organized into: fast, medium and low speeds. This allow people to run where they feel comfortable, ensuring all the right twists and turns are taken)
- Every Monday at 5:30pm we will meet at The Radical Edge Queen St. Location. If we are heading somewhere we have to drive to, those who offer up their cars for rideshare purposes can park at the Westmorland location. Those of us who meet at the Queen St. Location will head over to Westmorland at about 5:45 to fill up the cars and go. We will always post meeting details on our Facebook, Twitter and Blog locations, to make sure people know of any changes and details to make sure everyone who wants to come is in the know.
- Each run will be in the woods, on single track as much as possible.
- Each run will have three different Pace Leaders. We recognize that everyone looks for something different in running and that not everyone runs at one pace. We want everyone to feel welcome and come join us, no matter how slow or fast you like to go. All our pace leaders will know the areas we visit and keep everyone from getting lost.
- Distances will vary, but for the most part, you can expect to run between 5 and 10 km's each night. Opportunities for cross fit and training exercises will evolve naturally as well.
- After our runs, about 6:30 or 7:00 a group of us will usually be offering to sit down and sip on some Picaroons at various patios and backyards. Feeling social? Stay for a pint or just some good company.
- Opportunities for weekend long events, team building for races, and other fun stuff out of the regular Monday night runs are in the works too. For now we just want to spread the word and get out in the woods. Where running is the most fun - period.
Thanks for reading everyone. See you on the trails.
